Long Range Mountain Views
For you photography buffs, seek out just the right light to show the layers of mountains. This is a view from the ridge line near Cloud 9 Relaxation Home, looking east. On full moon nights you’ll see the moon rise over this “Little Pisgah” mountain.
Valley Views from Living Room
This is the long range mountain view from the living room. As soon as you walk in the front door, your eyes are drawn to this view out the 8 ft. of sliding glass door to the deck where you can sit in gliders and watch the light play on this SW view. You are looking toward Fletcher, Hendersonville and Saluda Gap leading to South Carolina. In fact, every room of the house has a mountain view. Read your book from the comfort of the couch and still have a view to rest your eyes with.
It's all about the view!
January of 2019, we updated the deck to include cabin and rigging with stainless steel posts. Enjoy those rocker chairs to see the view.
Children and Pets are Safe on this Deck.
The cable and rigging posts go completely around the perimeter of the deck. A gate leads you off onto the lawn. Open the 8 feet of sliders to enjoy the mountain fresh air.
Entrance in the Valley
You know you’re going to see beauty as soon as you enter our mini-estate in the valley which is a remarkable turn around from the run-down corn/tobacco farm purchased in the 1960s. Around every corner is a path for you to explore…most of them are old logging trails that we maintain as hiking trails. Take the easy gravel road to the top of the hill for more views.
Valley view of Cloud 9 's Mountain Ridge
It’s a winter wonderland when it snows…if you are one of the lucky ones to get “snowed in” Don’t worry, we have the tractors to scrape the roads.
Enjoy the View from the Hot Tub
Comfortable for up to 4, this hot tub is just the right size to soak in the heat of the water on a cold-ish day AND soak in the view. Under the stars at night, you are sure to catch a meteor or the space station orbiting. No other houses that you have to look at or be quiet for.
Take a Tour
Rent the golf cart or let Janet give you a tour. This is “Pretty Place” where you can sit on a bench and contemplate the whole farm; the cows, the pastures, the pond in the distance and the honeybee hives across the little-traveled road. Yes, that’s part of Cloud 9, too.
View from the Mountain Top
You have to walk to the 3/4mi. to get to the top of our own “Buzzard’s Roost” but it’s well worth it…not only the view but at 2400 ft elevation, you can say you made it!
Family Proof; They Made It!
So proud this family was to make the trek with dog in tow, sign the journal inside the mailbox and enjoy the view of the Arden valley below that they took their picture to prove it. Two steep inclines, the rest is gradual and the top 1000 ft is all flat because you are on the ridge line. It’s a good idea to pack some water bottles.
Reflect on this View
Peterson pond is the destination within the destination. You could spend a good part of the day here with the picnic pavilion, a sandy beach (with kids sand toys), a paddle boat, a fire pit, a water fall and field for playing kickball with your kids or fetch with your dog!
Living Area
Living Room
For the readers in the family who want a little privacy from the TV watchers. Cloud 9 has the space to spread out! Passive solar in the winter keeps the room warm or turn on the gas logs. Summer- open up 8 ft of windows to get the breeze from the large deck with a view.
Kick back and relax!
It may be a mid-century ranch style home but all rooms have been opened up for that living-outdoor feel. Peak-a-boo to the dining room. Sorry, the kidney-shaped Peterson patriarch-made tile table has been claimed by a grand daughter. Other 50’s home made tiled end tables still in place.
Family Fun/ Photo Op
Through the archway is the dining room. Great spot for a family reunion pose. This family rented more than one unit so they could all be together using the Cloud 9 Retreat as the central hub. Two other rentals are within walking distance.
Dining Room Closer
We wanted you can see the pottery plates made by a local crafter up close. Use them or stack them aside if you prefer everyday plates. We have quite an assortment of paper to china to plastic to pottery. Glasses, too, in many specialty sizes like micro-brewery beer glasses, wine glasses with stems or without. Plenty of coffee mugs.
Kitchen & Den
Gourmet Kitchen
Cook with a view. You’ll love this easy kitchen that adjoins the den. Bar has three chairs and a bar stool for the cook. Pantry is loaded with spices and items you can use to cook with including baking powder! (Just sayin’ because a renter exclaimed when she saw we had it.) We even have a coffee grinder.
Our Favorite Family Room
For the TV watchers who want to keep the kitchen close and the sliding glass door to the outside closer. One of the gas log fireplaces is in this room.
Cozy Gas Log Fireplace in Family Room
Yes, the gas logs work! (Answer to a frequently asked question.)
Buffet/bar for your Spread
Mirrored back to this bar doubles your fun for all the treats you brought to store and use their. Put one bottle of wine on the tiled counter top and it looks like two! Drawers have placemats, extra kitchen towels, and a drawer for “junk”…pens, pads, clips and pins, etc.
Kitchen 2
Simple, minimal, and ready for all your provisions. We not only have spices, coffee, tea and cocoa, but we’ve got the aluminum foil, saran wrap and baggies for you to easily store your left overs. The grill is just a pass through the window to the patio outside, right under the kitchen window.
Bedrooms
Master Bedroom
The Master Bedroom
The Master Bedroom has a king size bed with private bath, teak wood furniture, satellite TV (which has a separate receiver from the den TV), CD clock radio, ceiling fan, 2 closets, a lock box and private sun deck that leads to the outdoor hot tub under the stars.
Comfy robes are ready for your hot tub use. Oak wood floors, all cotton sheets and original artwork on the walls add to the uniqueness of this vacation rental and shows the pride the owner has in offering this home.
Garden Room 1
The Garden Room
What would a garden be without flowers? The Garden Room has a queen size bed, ceiling fan, oak wood floors, a lock box and plenty of closet/dresser space with robes. It feels really homey with its country decor including quilted pieces, antiques, folk art and flower garden theme.
Across the hall is a bathroom with walk-in shower shared by the Blueberry Room. The 8 ft sliding glass door leads out to the expansive deck.
Big Mirror in Garden Room
Not to mention, this room has an antique treadle sewing machine as a night stand…orginally used as part of the owner’s inheritance.
Blueberry Room
The Blueberry Room motif is inspired by our own blueberry patch on the property. It has twin beds with a hand-painted blueberry headboard, custom made blueberry designed curtains, large closet with hangers, robes, dresser and ceiling fan. It shares a bathroom across the hall with the Garden Room. The window shade opens easily so you can slip out the sliding glass door to the expansive deck.
Palm Room
The Palm Room is an “island escape” that can be especially for kids. It is located off the recreation room in the basement and can be a fourth bedroom . We keep it set up with an extra thick regular mattress on those springs so it is comfy. Clock radio, library and video games (retro Game Cube) on a retro projection TV. There is also a futon in the game room.

Winter at Cloud 9
Snowy Little Pisgah mountain
Come to Cloud 9 to see snow…maybe!
Nothing is more beautiful than a clean, white snow defining every mountain outcropping with the white covered trees bowed in reverence.
Snow in the Driveway
We know what you’re thinking…”We want to see snow!” OR you’re thinking, “What if we get stuck?”
You need to know that snows like this are rare because we are on the south slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Within a day or two, they are usually gone. So it is just hit or miss for snow and we can’t guarantee your kids (or you) will be here on the exact days it snows.
Valley farm in the snow
Don’t worry about getting “stuck” if you value a vacation of being together as a family or a couple… a priceless opportunity! But you do have to get here first so check the weather map or call ahead and we will inform you the best we can.
The driveway is snow plowed with our tractor if it gets that high and the sun hits it to melt quickly. What we can guarantee is beautiful views year round. Here, the snow just accentuates those views.
