New “Agri-Tourism” Chicken House

We say agi-tourism because it will be something special to gawk over on our farm tours. Using all wood harvested, cut and sawn on Cloud 9 Farm, Jeff starts on a state-of-the art chicken house in the “cover crop” part of the blueberry patch for our heritage breeds, you know, the sustainable kind of chicken. It will have 3 sections for 3 breeding flocks with predator proof everything. We are in Year 2 of dedicating our initiative to promoting and protecting standard bred poultry with an original breed, slow growth, nutritionally sound chicken who’s genetics are not owned by corporations. You can read more about it from Jim Adkins, our poultry guru, with the International Center for Poultry.

Southern Exposure New Chicken House takes shape on Cloud 9 Farm near Asheville.
