Then you better plan a spur-of-the moment vacation to our Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville while it’s cold. We have openings in several of our vacation rentals for 2 up to 6 people.
Yes, the ski resorts make snow when the temps are freezing and it lasts and lasts even when weather warms.
Though we don’t have snow at our elevation right now, this arctic blast coming this week will allow nearby ski resorts to make it. Check out the snow conditions at nearby ski resorts here.
Vacationers like to stay here because it is close to Asheville for checking out the eclectic restaurants when you’re not in the snow. It is just a 45 minute drive to Moonshine Mountain in Hendersonville which is strictly a tubing place. Their only requirement is that you be 36” or more in height and if you want to use the lift…weigh 250 lbs or less. Plus, they let you form “trains” with family members in tubes.
The closest ski resort is about an hour away called Wolf Ridge Ski Resort. They have a “magic carpet” lift that takes you back to the top so you can get a lot of 350 foot long runs for your 2 hour session. They have no designated lanes but rather 100 feet wide towards the bottom for you to create “the whip” with your fellow tubers.
Or go to Hawksnest Tubing Park , an hour and a half drive, but worth it to see the largest snow tubing park on the East Coast. They have at least 30 lanes for you to pick from and even boast they span from 400 to 1,000 feet long. Plus they have four different snow tubing areas if you want a different terrain (not just smooth) to test your tubing skills.
Cost? About $20-$30 per person.
