Have you ever seen a pigtail steak flipper?

That’s a steak flipper! It is handcrafted by our neighborhood, part-time blacksmith, Yancey. He would do it full time if he didn’t have to hold down a real job. He loves the fire, the pounding, the sweat, the making of useful objects out of iron. This steak-flipper is a must-have for those of you that like to grill out. Just stab the pig-tail, sharp [ MORE » ]

Where’s Waldo?

Not just anybody can just plop their rack cards at the DOT Welcome Centers for visitors. You have to call and wait, apply and wait then finally get approved. We have some very pretty (and informative) new rack cards to show off, too.

Little House in the Snowy Woods

Laura Ingalls Wilder would love that! Wouldn’t it be great to get snowed in with your honey here with no where that you have to be? And if you have to get out, we have the tractor snow plow. Here is what an inch and a half looks like of freshly fallen snow at Heavenly Hideaway Cabin.

Winter Solstice

When the leaves drop off the trees, you can see a panoramic view on top of Cloud 9. The winter solstice peaks over Bear Wallow mountain on December 21st marking the shortest day of the year. It all happens about 8 am so rise and shine and witness a wonder in this world…the return of light to the Northern Hemisphere.

Mountain Lizard

Look who came to visit Cloud 9. A blue tailed skink! If you like to explore under rocks or want your children to have the experience of outdoor living, there are many opportunities in our big outdoors on Cloud 9 Farm.

Dog’s Just Wanna have F-un

Romping up to Buzzard’s Roost  (one of our many wooded nature trails) at pet-friendly Cloud 9. You want your dog to have all the outdoor experiences they deserve, don’t you. Be prepared to have their instincts unleashed as they sniff the deer and wild turkey and an occasional bear. Do you think the owner stayed ahead of them very long?

Night time Campfires

Time to light the fires at Cloud 9 on these cold nights. We provide the wood and fire starter (unless you want to use your Scout skills). You bring the marshmallows. Or sit and listen to the hoot owls between crackling embers. Better yet, bring a friend who knows how to play a mean guitar. Roger that.

Feels like Snow

It hasn’t looked like this snowy scene yet this December on Cloud 9, but we must prepare ourselves…to sled, that is. (We have the sleds.) These are Cloud 9’s snowy, sloping pastures and if the snow gets thick enough and the cow pies get frozen enough underneath it all, it makes for great sledding. The last winter wonderland was January 2012. Don’t worry, we [ MORE » ]

Window with a View

All the windows at Cloud 9 Relaxation home have a view of the Blue Ridge Mountains here on our U-Pick blueberry farm. Here is our latest update to the Blueberry Room with twin beds (or can be made into a king-size bed upon request). You can look out but no one can see in. Now that’s privacy! New Provenance woven wood shade in a [ MORE » ]
